Louise Bourcier, Vice President Business Manager® Program Director
During high school, Louise Bourcier wasn’t much different than any other 17 year old.
Except that she played a big part in starting a bank.
“Basically, I was looking for a summer job,” Bourcier said. “Pretty soon, I was getting really involved.”
Heritage Bank in Washington opened in 1978 with Bourcier as the Administrative Assistant to the President. She spent the next four years helping run the bank, including implementing a new loan system.
That is where she found her love for banking, making loans and project management.
“I’m always looking for the next big project,” she said.
Since that time, Bourcier has worked at several different banks, managing projects ranging from Y2K compliance to outsourcing of mainframe operations.
Bourcier first came to First National in 1985 as a mortgage loan officer. When she left Alaska in 1987 to get an accounting degree, she hoped that someday she would return to the state, and First National.
She came back to Alaska 1990 with a degree in hand. She returned to First National 2005, and hit the ground running.
Bourcier not only directs the bank’s Business Manager program, but is helping to launch a new Fannie Mae® Multifamily loan program, the first of its kind in the state.
“Basically, I love to keep myself busy,” she said. “I was looking for a job that would always give me a lot on my plate. I wanted to work with a mix of data, sales, customers and employees. And I wanted it to be interesting.
“This is just what I was looking for,” Bourcier said.
