Relationship Manager, Dimond Branch Lending
Ed LaFleur's 30-year history in banking and finance is grounded in a childhood and early career in the Midwest farm country of Iowa and South Dakota.
On the farm, Ed learned the value of hard work and the importance of education. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in accounting, he began his career working with a local bank and then for a Certified Public Accounting firm. A young local woman visiting her hometown from her new home in Alaska caught LaFleur's eye.
It was the adventurous hometown girl who had moved to the Last Frontier that prompted the move for LaFleur from the Midwest to Kodiak where he immediately started working for First National – the local bank on that Alaska island. When his now wife transferred to Anchorage to complete her degree, LaFleur spent several years working with other financial institutions, gaining experience in commercial real estate lending, governmental loans (SBA and AIDEA), commercial lending, equipment leasing and deposit services.
As an experienced lender, LaFleur returned to First National to use his expertise helping Alaska engineers, physicians and medical professionals, as well as real estate owners and contractors grow their businesses.
While volunteering for the United Way, LaFleur most satisfying experience giving back to the underserved in his community came when he volunteered with the Anchorage Park Foundation project 50 Bikes for 50 Kids.
