When Sitka Branch Manager Caprice Pratt moved to Sitka in 1989, it didn’t take her long to get to know the community. "With my gift/curse of gab I met just about everyone in town in a very short amount of time," she said. Over the years Pratt has built an interesting resume. She’s been a retail sales clerk, cosmetic sales rep and an operations manager at a major barge-leasing company, to name a few. In 2006 Pratt added another job to her resume: management associate. In her new position at First National Bank Alaska, she learned the ins and outs of both a loan officer's and branch manager's duties. In 2008 she was chosen to fill the Sitka branch manager position. Her gift of conversation, along with her experience in many other fields was put to good use, helping her connect with customers and better understand their needs. "Each of my previous jobs has helped me view things from various perspectives, whether the point of view comes from contractors, commercial fishers, small business owners, corporate executives or the average Joe or Jane." One of the things Pratt often discusses with her business customers is First National’s direct deposit payroll service. "It’s a win-win for the customer and their employees. It streamlines their business processes, is easy to set up and administer, and saves on paperwork, as well as the cost of cutting checks." After a day of working hard to connect with customers and help set them up with convenient banking options, Pratt can be found with a grease-smeared face and a wrench in her hand. "I am a grease monkey by night. It’s kind of a Jekyll and Hyde life, wouldn't you say? Since the year I became a First National employee, my husband and I have custom built -- from the ground up -- the following: a 1934 Ford 3-Window Coupe, a 1968 AMC AMX (street/ drag car), a 1968 VW Beetle (chopped and suicided) and a 1988 Pontiac Fiero Formula T-Top. The current project is a Hydrostream Viper (known as a ?go fast? boat). There’s never a dull moment at the Pratt house."
