FNB Contributions Top $1.5 Million in 2003Fourth quarter contributions of over $600,000 pushed the total to more than $1.5 million given to Alaska communities by First National Bank Alaska and its 750 employees in 2003. The total includes charitable gifts, activity sponsorships and in-kind donations of time and talent during the past year.
Financial support totaling $1,493,456 was donated to a wide variety of health, youth, educational, civic and arts organizations in the state. Education was again a major focus of the banks support, with significant contributions to the University of Alaska Anchorage, Alaska Pacific University, Alaska Council on Economic Education, Sheldon Jackson College, the Prince William Sound Science Center and the University of Alaska Foundation.
Alaskas youth were also a particular focus for First National support. The bank continued its long-time contributions to organizations such as Boys and Girls Club, the Alaska School Activities Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Junior Achievement and Scouts groups in the state. Recipients of other major contributions in 2003 included United Way, SEARHC
Foundation, Anchorage Opera Company, American Lung Association and the Alaska Federation of Natives, among many others.
In addition to these donations, bank employees volunteered hundreds of hours to help organizations and the people they serve. First National Bank also donated thousands of dollars of gift items such as childrens toys, sporting goods, office supplies and clothing items.
