Healy Branch site of U.S. Mint Denali National Park quarter exchangeFirst National Bank Alaska's Healy Branch is the official exchange bank of the Denali National Park Quarter Launch and the first to offer the United States Mint-released quarters. The launch ceremony will begin at 10 am on Nov. 15 in the Tri-Valley Community Center. The coin exchange begins at the Healy Branch immediately following the quarter launch event.
First National is the only banking services provider located in and serving Healy, Alaska. The branch will exchange coins in one-roll ($10) minimum, with a 10-roll ($100) maximum.
The Denali National Park Quarter will be the fifth design released for the year 2012, completing the third year of the ongoing America the Beautiful Quarters Program. The reverse design for the coin features the image of a Dall sheep with Mount McKinley towering in the background. Similar compositions have been used for other sites which comprise vast areas including mountain ranges. The inscriptions appearing around the outer edge of the coin include "Denali", "Alaska","2012", and "E Pluribus Unum". The reverse was designed by Susan Gamble and sculpted by Jim Licaretz.
On the obverse of the coin is the 1932 portrait of George Washington with the inscriptions "United States of America", "Liberty", "In God We Trust", and the denomination "Quarter Dollar". The portrait was restored from the original John Flanagan design.
Each of the 30 First National Bank Alaska branches will have the Denali National Park Quarter available for purchase when they open for business on Nov. 16.
