Fraud tip

Always remember that the bank will NEVER call or e-mail you asking for personal information. Many identity thieves pretend to be from your bank and call or e-mail requesting personal information, such as your account number or Social Security number. Protect your identity from scammers by remembering these tips:

  • Never provide personal financial information if you did not initiate the contact.
  • Never click on a link provided in an e-mail you think is fraudulent.
  • Do not be intimidated by an e-mail or caller that suggests dire consequences for failure to act.
  • Check on the legitimacy of the e-mail sender by typing in the website address instead of using a link in the e-mail.
  • If you become a victim, call your bank immediately, file a report with local police, place fraud alerts on your credit files and use online banking services to monitor account statements closely.
  • Report suspicious e-mails or calls to the Federal Trade Commission (
