When Rachel Carlson joined First National Bank Alaska partner and First Data Business Consultant Shelbie Moring to indoctrinate Dr. Mike Orzechowski & Associates in the ways of the Clover Mini cloud-based point-of-sale (POS) system, the U-Med Branch Personal Banker did her part with an unyielding enthusiasm.
“We knew what the product could do for Dr. Mike,” Carlson said. “We were there to help the medical practice grow its business.”
Armed with whip-smart product knowledge and a positive personality, Carlson excels in meeting the financial needs of every customer with which she works.
“I’d certainly like to think so,” Carlson said. “I always felt a banking career would be right for me, and when I arrived in Anchorage years ago I was pointed in First National’s direction. “It’s been a tremendous experience so far.”
Working with medical customers on the advantages of Clover Mini, Carlson and Moring meet with different practices and walk them through an orientation to make sure the system will operate exactly as it should.
“You may play a large role, a small one or none at all,” Carlson said. “But you can’t help but be inspired by the way people at our bank and our associates like Shelbie work together so creatively and energetically.
“While not every customer will have a use for the services provided by Clover Mini, it’s wonderful for many industries beyond medical like retail and restaurants to name a few. Those who do use the service, know they’re getting a quality item that’s been well vetted by First National’s trustworthy banking experts.”
ADDING MORE AND MORE RESPONSIBILITY
Carlson started as a Teller at the Eagle River Branch in 2008 and was then moved to South Center first as a Customer Service Representative, then as a Personal Banker.
She made the move to the U-Med Branch earlier in 2015. There, she’s been involved not only in building customer relationships, but taking on more branch operations responsibilities as well.
Carlson’s personable ability to interact and present the best banking product and service options greatly benefits First National’s customers.
“Rachel’s effective customer advocacy is no surprise,” said U-Med Branch Manager Kippy Lane. “I’ve watched and heard her relate to our customers. Older, younger, it doesn’t matter. Rachel treats everyone she deals with like they’re our bank’s only customer.”
