BRANCH MANAGER, U-MED BRANCH - ANCHORAGE
On one of Rachel Carlson’s recent visits to Reading Write Alaska owner Heather Walton, the First National Bank Alaska banking expert carried a basket of baked goods to share with Walton and her staff.
“From the first time I met Rachel, I could tell she was someone special,” Walton said. “Examples like her dropping off tasty treats proves how right I am.”
Carlson’s positive personality and willingness to learn has reaped rewards for her professional development and the First National customers she works with every day. Carlson excels at getting to know her customers and identifying their unique business needs.
“I learned early that building relationships with customers is made easier because of the bank’s reputation and nearly 100 years of service to Alaskans,” Carlson said. “When I started working with (Walton), she was just getting to know First National.
“I’d like to think we made a great impression.”
Walton said Carlson and the bank did just that.
“The value we receive from Rachel and First National is second to none,” Walton said. “They always deliver.”
Finding helpful solutions
Carlson arrived at First National in 2008 and began as a Teller at the Eagle River Branch. She then moved to Anchorage’s South Center Branch, first as a Customer
Service Representative and then a Personal Banker. In 2015, she remained in Alaska’s largest city and helped open the U-Med Branch and was named Branch Manager late in 2017.
“As time passes, I can’t believe how fortunate I’ve been to learn so much about Alaskans and the way they do business,” Carlson said. “It’s an amazing honor to contribute back to Alaska and the community where I work and am raising my daughter.”
She plans to continue the learning process and being there for her customers.
“We often hear from Rachel’s customers about her enthusiasm and ability to . nd helpful solutions,” said Kim Frensley, one of First National’s Anchorage Branch Administrators and a 35-year banking veteran. “It’s been wonderful to watch her grow as a banker and become more of an asset to First National and the Alaskans she works alongside every day.”
And who knows? Carlson may soon stop by your business with vast banking knowledge and other goodies in tow.
