Vice President/Loan Officer/Branch Manager
In her 34-plus years at First National Bank Alaska, Pam Wentz has consistently provided customers and employees with one thing she deems extremely important.
“An open-door policy,”Wentz said.“I always want customers and coworkers to feel comfortable and welcome to talk to me.”
Wentz has immersed herself in the Fairbanks community since starting as a First National Teller in 1978. She’s served on the Sunrisers Rotary Club’s board of directors, is the current treasurer for The Carol H. Brice Family Center and has donated free time to sports leagues around town.
“Fairbanksans are very tight-knit and appreciative of each other’s efforts,” Wentz said.“We’re proud of where we live and strive to improve our city.”
The Johansen Branch is located in the northeast part of Fairbanks, near the Johansen Highway. Wentz was named Branch Manager in 2004.
She takes joy both professionally and personally in working with customers who are also friends and neighbors. When Lane Nichols Sr. and Gene’s Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM ran into cyber security problems with a different financial institution, Wentz knew First National could help.
“With experts like (Security Officer) Don Krohn and (Product Support Manager) Mike Mason working for our bank, we have the kind of knowledge and ability to give customers exactly what they need,”Wentz said.“Lane knew me well and learned to know the bank even better.
“It only made sense for Gene’s to work with us.”
With banking experience gained through the years, Wentz is in prime position to teach First National’s future leaders. Class is in session in the Johansen Branch every day.
“First National is such a good place to grow a career,” she said. We’re a great company in so many ways.”
