Erik Niebuhr

Biography

Living and working in Homer, Erik Niebuhr delights in Alaska experiences like hiking and snowshoeing all around the town at the end of the road.

"I used to enjoy outdoor activities in my free time," Niebuhr said. "Now, it's outdoor activities with my 2-year-old daughter."

A 35-year Alaska resident in his 12th year banking and fifth at First National, Niebuhr parlays his passion for small-town Homer with each and every customer he meets.

"My work allows me to get to know a large and diverse number of people in the community," he said. "Through working with them, I feel my work impacts their business. At the end of each day, it's nice to think that in some very small way I helped a customer move their business forward."

Niebuhr knows people call Homer home for a number of reasons. But living near Kachemak Bay on the southern tip of the Kenai Peninsula offers its own unique challenges for businesses.

"Working together, we can strengthen the community by making individual businesses stronger," Niebuhr said. "Everyone in the community benefits in the end."

It's that working together that makes First National the place for Homer's medical professionals to go to have their needs met.

"As in the case of our financing options for Electronic Health Record conversion, when a special industry-wide need arises, First National can often customize a service to meet that need," Niebuhr said.
