First National Bank Alaska contributes more than $1 million to Alaska organizations in 2025

Fourth-quarter contributions of $574,711 pushed the total given to Alaska communities by First National Bank Alaska and its employees to more than $1 million in 2025. Total contributions include charitable gifts, activity sponsorships and in-kind donations of time and talent during the past year.

“Our great communities are at the heart of what makes Alaska such a wonderful place to live, work and play,” said Board Chair and CEO/President Betsy Lawer. “Investing in their success directly enhances quality of life and helps shape a stronger, more prosperous tomorrow for all Alaskans.”

Financial support totaling $1,033,264 was given to a wide variety of health, youth, educational, civic and arts organizations in the state. Educational and youth organizations continued to be a major focus of the bank’s support, with significant contributions to the Alaska Children’s Trust, Alaska School Activities Association, Anchorage Museum, Anchorage Youth Court, Boys and Girls Clubs of the Kenai Peninsula, Covenant House Alaska, Ilisagvik College, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Junior Achievement, University of Alaska Foundation and many more. 

Other noteworthy contributions in 2025 included the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts, Alaska Goldpanners Baseball, Alaska Public Radio Network, Alaska Federation of Natives, Alaska Public Radio Network, Alaska Travel Industry Association, American Heart Association, Anchorage Concert Association, Armed Services YMCA, Associated General Contractors of Alaska, Bean’s Café, Cook Inlet Tribal Council, First Alaskans Institute, Kuskokwim 300 Race Committee, Resource Development Council, Special Olympics Alaska, Sitkans Against Family Violence, The Alliance, United Way organizations statewide, Western Alaska Disaster Relief Fund, and USO Alaska, among many others.

In addition to these donations, bank employees volunteered hundreds of hours to assist organizations and the people they serve. First National and its employees also donated thousands of dollars of gift items such as children’s toys, sporting goods, office supplies and clothing to Alaska non-profit organizations.

In 2026, for the second year in a row, Forbes selected First National as one of America’s Best Banks, this year ranking the bank as the second best in the nation. Newsweek recognized the bank as one of the nation’s 2026 Best Regional Banks and Credit Unions for the second year in a row. In 2025, Alaska Business readers voted First National “Best of Alaska Business” in the Best Place to Work category for the 10th year in a row, Best Bank/Credit Union for the fifth time, and Best Customer Service for the second year in a row. In 2025, American Banker recognized First National as a “Best Bank to Work For” for the eighth year in a row. The bank was also voted “Best of Alaska” in the Anchorage Daily News awards, ranking as one of the top three in the Bank/Financial category for the seventh consecutive year.
