Improving quality of life for seniors in Sterling

Senior citizens in the Sterling Area who are struggling under a fixed income and who are seeking nutritious meals can turn to Sterling Area Senior Citizens Inc (SASCI). SASCI coordinates supportive services to improve quality of life for seniors in the 79-square-mile area.

First National’s Soldotna Branch is giving $1,000 to Sterling Area Senior Citizens to support low-income senior citizens served through the Meals on Wheels program. SASCI delivers more than 40 meals a day. This donation will provide approximately 200 meals to home-bound seniors who cannot otherwise cook for themselves. The donation also supports SASCI in its efforts to serve all of those in need.

“We are abundantly grateful for this contribution from First National Bank Alaska. This gift ensures that we can continue to deliver nutritious meals to Sterling Area community members who need them,” said SASCI director Matthew Lundell.

First National Bank Alaska, which opened in 1922, is marking a century of business by investing in the success of Alaskans for the next 100 years and beyond. As part of the centennial celebrations in 2022, each First National branch is making a meaningful donation to an organization in their community to help shape a brighter tomorrow for all Alaskans. First National has 27 branches in 18 communities across the state. Each year, First National contributes about $1 million to charities and community events in Alaska through cash and other in-kind donations. We are proud to help Alaskans succeed, overcome challenges, and thrive.

Alaskan-owned and -operated since 1922, First National proudly marks its 100th year of meeting the financial needs of Alaskans. In 2021, Alaska Business readers voted the bank the “Best of Alaska Business” in the Best Place to Work category for the sixth year in a row, Best Corporate Citizen for a third year, and Best Bank/Credit Union. The same year, American Banker recognized First National as a “Best Bank to Work For” for the fourth year in a row, and Anchorage Daily News readers voted the bank one of the state’s top three financial institutions for the third year in a row in the ADN “Best of Alaska” Awards.

First National Bank Alaska is a Member FDIC and Equal Housing Lender.
