Shaping a brighter tomorrow for people experiencing homelessness in Bethel

People experiencing homelessness in Bethel have a place to go during the extreme cold of Alaska winters. Bethel Winter House is an emergency shelter providing life-saving services to some of the most vulnerable populations in Bethel.

First National’s Kuskokwim Branch is donating $1,000 to Bethel Winter House to support the purchase of outdoor gear, warm clothing, gloves and socks. Because of the nature of services provided and the population served, Bethel Winter House requires donations in order to meet the changing day-to-day needs of its guests.

During the 2020-2021 winter season, Bethel Winter House served 291 guests with more than 5,000 total shelter nights and more than 6,000 meals.

First National Bank Alaska, which opened in 1922, is marking a century of business by investing in the success of Alaskans for the next 100 years and beyond. As part of the centennial celebrations in 2022, each First National branch is making a meaningful donation to an organization in their community to help shape a brighter tomorrow for all Alaskans. First National has 27 branches in 18 communities across the state. Each year, First National contributes about $1 million to charities and community events in Alaska through cash and other in-kind donations. We are proud to help Alaskans succeed, overcome challenges, and thrive.

Alaskan-owned and -operated since 1922, First National proudly marks its 100th year of meeting the financial needs of Alaskans.
