Alaskans from Bethel to Sitka benefit from more than $1 million in 2016 contributions

Thousands of Alaskans in communities across the state drew support from First National Bank Alaska’s contributions in 2016. Fourth quarter contributions of $438,073 pushed the yearly total above $1 million given by the bank and its employees. The total includes charitable gifts, activity sponsorships and in-kind donations of time and talent during the past year.

Financial support totaling $1,002,757 was given in 2016 to a wide variety of health, youth, educational, civic and arts organizations in the state. The educational and youth organizations continued to be a major focus of the bank’s support, with significant contributions to the University of Alaska Foundation, Alaska Pacific University, Boys and Girls Club, Alaska Junior Theater, Alaska School Activities Association, Camp Fire USA Alaska, Kenaitze Indian Tribe Head Start, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Junior Achievement and the Girls Scouts Susitna Council.

During the fourth quarter, First National maintained its support of the Alaska Public Radio Network, Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum, Alaska Center for the Performing Arts, Cook Inlet Tribal Council, Carol H. Brice Family Center, Covenant House Alaska, Food Bank of Alaska, Healing Hand Foundation, Soldotna Area Senior Citizens, the Tundra Women’s Coalition, and United Ways across state, among many others.

In addition to these donations, bank employees volunteered hundreds of hours to assist organizations and the people they serve. First National Bank Alaska also donated thousands of dollars of gift items such as children’s toys, sporting goods, office supplies and clothing items to Alaska non-profit organizations.
