Alaskans targeted via text message scam

Some Alaskan cardholders are reporting receiving text messages in a fraudulent attempt to gain personal information. There has been no breach in First National Bank Alaska’s security. This recent fraudulent message directs the customer to call 844-707-9217. Cardholders who call this number are asked to enter their 16-digit card number, expiration date, and Personal Identification Number.

The scam text message reads: mastercard alert for [recipient phone number]. Call 8447079217

First National and MasterCard® do not directly contact cardholders via text message or phone to request personal credit or debit card information. You should never be required to provide your Personal Identification Number via text or phone request.

Alaskans who believe their information has been compromised should immediately contact their bank.

Alaskan-owned and operated since 1922, First National proudly meets the financial needs of Alaskans with ATMs and branches in 18 communities throughout the state.
