Anderson named Branch Manager of the Year

Kodiak Branch Manager and First National Vice President Mark Anderson was named Branch Manager of the Year at the banks annual branch manager awards dinner in January. Anderson moved to Alaska in 1983 and started working at First National in 1992. Anderson was the Seward branch manager for five years before being named Kodiak branch manager in 1998.

Anderson received the award in part by increasing his average loan portfolio balance by more than $6 million during 2006. The loans benefited commercial real estate and fishing companies in the Kodiak area. The Kodiak branch also had the largest dollar increase in loans as well as the greatest percentage increase out of 18 branches in 16 Alaskan communities.

Ive been fortunate to see several of Alaskas commercial fisheries including the Sitka herring fishery, long-lining halibut in the Gulf of Alaska, seining in Chignik and set-netting on Kodiak, said Anderson. Whether Im out on the water with customers or at their place of business, actively participating allows me to understand their industries and the challenges they face.

Established in 1922, First National is Alaskas largest Alaskan-owned and operated bank, with ATMs and 29 branches in 17 communities throughout Alaska.
