Bank gives nearly $1.4 million in 2006

First National Bank Alaska gave $1,384,019 to support Alaska non-profit organizations and community activities in 2006. The total includes charitable gifts, activity sponsorships and community and business sponsorships distributed statewide by the bank and its 750 employees. Alaskas youth were a particular focus for First National support during the year. The bank maintained its long-time contributions to organizations such as the Alaska School Activities Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Junior Achievement, and the Boys and Girls Club.

Education continued to be a major component in the banks mix of support, with significant contributions to the Alaska Pacific University Early Honors program, Sheldon Jackson College, the Koniag Education Foundation and several different programs and campuses through the University of Alaska Foundation.

Other major 2006 contributions included Alaska Public Radio Network, Alaska Native Justice Center, United Way, The Salvation Army SAFE Center, Anchorage Opera Company, American Lung Association, Food Bank of Alaska, YWCA Women$finances program, the Alaska Federation of Natives, Anchorage Concert Association and the Consumer Credit Counseling Services of Alaska, among many others.

In addition to these donations, bank employees volunteered hundreds of hours to assist organizations and the people they serve. First National also donated thousands of dollars of gift items such as childrens toys, sporting goods, office supplies and clothing.

Established in 1922, First National is Alaskas largest locally owned and operated bank, with ATMs and 29 branches in 17 communities throughout Alaska.
