Contributions top three-quarters of a million dollars

Second quarter contributions of $451,783 pushed the total above $788,000 given to Alaska communities in the first six months of 2008 by First National Bank Alaska. The total includes charitable gifts and sponsorships.

Financial support totaling $788,927 was given to a wide variety of health, youth, educational, civic and arts organizations in the state. First National continued its longtime support of Alaska Center for the Performing Arts, Alaska Public Radio Network, Safe Harbor Inn, the University of Alaska Foundation, and the Alaska School Activities Association.

Alaskas youth were also a particular focus for First National support. The bank continued its long-time contributions to organizations such as Boys and Girls Club, Boy Scouts Great Alaska Council, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Junior Achievement and the Girls Scouts Susitna Council.
Recipients of other major contributions included the Alaska Botanical Garden, Asian Alaskan Cultural Center, Anchorage Neighborhood Housing Services, Doyon Foundation, Standing Together Against Rape (STAR), Newspapers in Education with the Fairbanks News-Miner, Tundra Womens Coalition, and the Anchorage Concert Association, among many others.
