First National Bank Alaska increases financial commitment to Alaska School Activities Association

Alaska’s community bank renews their title sponsorship for March Madness Alaska

ANCHORAGE – First National Bank Alaska continues their title sponsorship of March Madness Alaska, a program of Alaska School Activities Association (ASAA), which began last week and runs through March 23. First National also remains the title sponsor for ASAA’s 2023-2024 season and is pleased to announce an increased, cumulative financial commitment of $575,000 through the 2027-2028 season.

“While we continue to keep score and crown champions, good sportsmanship isn’t just an enhancement of our sports, academic and fine arts activities – it’s also a precursor to citizenship in our communities,” said ASAA Executive Director Billy Strickland. “First National is a vital partner in helping us achieve our vision to help Alaska students become lifelong learners who are engaged in their communities and active contributors in society. We look forward to continuing our long-standing relationship to support high school students in every corner of Alaska.”

For more than 30 years, First National’s title sponsorship has helped ASAA deliver the benefits of educational-based activities to more than 750,000 Alaska high school students. Since 1990, First National has donated more than $2 million to ASAA.

“High school students who engage in sports and academic activities receive lifetime benefits from participation, including enhanced social and leadership skills, increased self-esteem, and valuable life lessons. These experiences contribute to well-rounded individuals who are better prepared for future academic and career endeavors,” said First National Senior Vice President Denise Brown Robinson. “By investing in our youth, we’re investing in shaping a brighter tomorrow for all Alaskans.”

Alaska’s community bank since 1922, First National proudly meets the financial needs of Alaskans with ATMs and 28 locations in 19 communities throughout the state, and by providing banking services to meet their needs across the nation and around the world.
In 2023, Alaska Business readers voted the bank the “Best of Alaska Business” in the Best Place to Work category for the eighth year in a row, Best Bank/Credit Union for the third time running, and Best Corporate Citizen for a fourth time. American Banker recognized First National in 2023 as a “Best Bank to Work For” for the sixth year running.
