First National donates $10,000 to Boys and Girls Clubs statewide

First National Bank Alaska Senior Vice President Cheri Gillian (left) presents a donation check to BGC-Alaska Board Chairman Terry Bailey (also an SVP and Manager of CH2M Alaska), and BGC-Alaska CEO Alana Humphrey, as members of the Woodland Park BGC Clubhouse in Anchorage look on.

Nearly 10,000 of Alaska’s youth in 30 Boys and Girls Clubs (BGC) statewide will be the beneficiaries of a recent donation of $10,000 from First National Bank Alaska, continuing more than two decades of support for the youth organization. That’s how many BGC says it currently serves through its athletics, childcare and clubhouse programs.

From the top of the world at Barrow to the tip of the Southeast panhandle at Metlakatla, BGC enriches the lives of Alaska’s young people through the group’s mission “to empower and inspire the diverse youth of Alaska to reach their full potential by offering them hope, opportunity and a safe environment.”

“I’ve seen the positive effect that BGC has on kids firsthand,” said Cheri Gillian, First National senior vice president and BGC Alaska board member. “BGC programs were a big part of my children’s lives, and that’s one reason I became involved with the group. As a board member, I think I’m most proud that our programs are available and affordable to all Alaskans and that clubhouses are open when kids need us most, in the summer and after school, offering positive, productive outlets for Alaska’s youth.”

Alaskan-owned and operated since 1922, First National proudly meets the financial needs of Alaskans with ATMs and 30 branches in 18 communities throughout the state.
