First National donates $10,000 to help women in crisis

Continuing a history of helping Alaskans in crisis, First National Bank Alaska is donating $10,000 to Abused Women’s Aid in Crisis (AWAIC) as part of Kaladi Brothers Coffee New Year’s Day of Giving event.

The bank’s donation will help renovate and expand the crisis service’s shelter in Anchorage. The renovation program will add 12 additional beds to the 52-bed shelter and additional space for programs to accommodate the growing demand for nonresidential services that AWAIC provides.

“If we can make a difference in the life of just one woman or child, it’s worth it,” said Chair and President Betsy Lawer. “AWAIC is a worthy organization.”

Alaskan-owned and operated since 1922, First National proudly meets the financial needs of Alaskans with ATMs and 30 branches in 18 communities throughout the state.
