First National named SBA Alaska 504 Lender of the Year

For the fourth time since 2011, First National Bank Alaska’s commitment to providing financial assistance to Alaska businesses earned significant recognition from the United States Small Business Administration.

First National was selected as the 2017 Alaska SBA 504 Lender of the Year and honored during the recent 2018 Alaska Lender Symposium in Anchorage. The bank earned the same distinction in 2011, 2012, 2014.

“By building long-lasting relationships with small business owners and helping them succeed for nearly a century, First National’s reputation speaks for itself,” First National Senior Vice President Stacy Tomuro said. “When financing new opportunities and helping businesses grow, we bring our local expertise and understanding of Alaska’s unique economy to work with us every day.”

In the 2017 fiscal year, the bank approved five SBA 504 loans totaling $2,435,586. The SBA 504 loan program provides long-term, fixed-rate subordinate mortgage financing for acquiring or renovating capital assets including land, buildings and equipment.

“We’re deeply honored and proud to play an important role in financing small businesses through the 504 program,” First National Board Chair and CEO Betsy Lawer said. “The bank’s mission is to help Alaskans meet and exceed their business and personal banking goals by offering solutions that help get them to where they want to go.”

Alaskan-owned and operated since 1922, First National proudly meets the financial needs of Alaskans with ATMs and branches in 18 communities throughout the state. In 2017, Alaska Business Monthly readers voted the bank the “Best of Alaska Business” in five categories, including the Best Place to Work for the second year in a row and best Customer Service, Corporate Citizen, Family-Owned Business and Alaska Ad Campaign. In January 2018, MSN.com named First National the most admired company in the state.
