Juneau's Bill Ray Center purchased

Purchase of the Bill Ray Center in downtown Juneau by First National Bank Alaska was finalized today, announced Vice President Luke Fanning, southeast regional manager for the bank.

The banks purchase of this University of Alaska property on F Street affords the bank options to expand our Channel Branch on 10th Street, near one of the busiest traffic intersections in Southeast Alaska, Fanning said.

The 22,000 square foot, two-story office building, known as the Bill Ray Center, and two adjacent parking lots, are located on F Street near the intersection of Egan Drive and the Douglas Bridge. The building is currently being used for classroom space.

In memory of Bill Ray and in honor of his long-term service to Alaska, at this time we have no plans to change the name of the building, Fanning said. We dont anticipate any substantial changes to the property at this time.

University of Alaska Southeast Chancellor John Pugh said the property sale enables UAS to consolidate its programs on the Auke Bay Campus. We appreciate First Nationals willingness to work with UAS during the transition so that the nursing program and the cooperative extension service can lease back space for this academic year, Pugh said.

Alaskan-owned and operated since 1922, First National proudly meets the financial needs of Alaskans with ATMs and 30 branches in 18 communities throughout the state. Forbes named the bank one of the nation's Most Trustworthy Companies in 2012 and 2013.
