Lawer named to Federal Reserve board

A third-generation Alaska banker, Betsy Lawer will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco's Board of Directors.

The Federal Reserve recently announced Lawer's election to the board.

Lawer, First National Bank Alaska's Vice Chair, began serving a three-year term Jan. 1. She was elected to provide insight on respective business sectors and offer observations on the well-being of the local communities she knows so well.

The Federal Reserve is the United States' central banking system.

Lawer previously served as a board member for the Seattle Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco from 1997-2003.

In addition to her role at First National, Lawer sits on the Board of Trustees of the University of Alaska Foundation, is a Smithsonian National Board Member, and a member of the President's Community Panel, Alyeska Pipeline Service Company.
