Moseley Sports Center gets back on track with help from First National $100,000 gift

The Homer and Ruth Moseley Sports Center at Alaska Pacific University is in the swim of things again, thanks in part to a $111,280 donation from First National Bank Alaska.

The 18,000 sq.ft. campus facility, which includes a salt-water swimming pool, gymnasium, and locker rooms, recently re-opened after closing for a number of months to accomplish repairs, renovations and upgrades on the 30-year-old building. A major portion consisted of improvements in energy efficiency, funded by an AIDEA-backed loan. APU still needed more than $100,000 to finish badly needed repairs to the pool deck, gymnasium floor, locker rooms and other areas. That’s when First National dove in with the contribution to help complete the project.

“We’re pleased to continue our long-time support of APU with this major donation to the Moseley Sports Center,” said First National Senior Vice President Cheri Gillian. “Our $688,000 in donations to APU over the past two decades in another sign of our belief in Alaska and the communities we serve. It’s especially gratifying that our contribution benefits not only APU but also the thousands of Anchorage residents who use the center for a variety of recreational sports, classes and clinics including youth group summer camps.”
