Teach Children to Save Day Tuesday

First National Bank Alaska will mark national Teach Children to Save Day Tuesday April 25 with a presentation to students in Cordova aimed at teaching children the basics of savings and financial planning.

The presentation is one of more than 20 the bank has conducted throughout the state as part of the American Banking Association Teach Children to Save program, culminating with national Teach Children to Save Day.

First National developed a drawing for Alaska students to correspond with the Teach Children to Save curriculum. Students in elementary school classes drew a picture of something that they were saving for. One of those pictures was randomly drawn from each Alaska community where First National has a branch and the winning child received a pizza party for his or her class along with a presentation from a bank officer.

First Nationals program received national recognition from the American Banking Association and is featured in the organizations new financial education toolbox, sent to banks across the country. First National custom-fitted its presentations to various age groups,
ranging from kindergarteners to high school seniors.
